Task

Task is an HBO crime drama created, written and run by Brad Ingelsby, the writer behind Mare of Easttown. Set in the working-class suburbs outside Philadelphia, it stars Mark Ruffalo as Tom Brandis, an FBI agent put in charge of a task force investigating a string of violent robberies of drug houses, carried out by a family man nobody would suspect. Tom Pelphrey, Martha Plimpton, Emilia Jones, Fabien Frankel, Alison Oliver and Thuso Mbedu are also in the cast. The seven-episode first season aired from 7 September to 19 October 2025, and HBO renewed the show in November 2025 for a second season, with Ruffalo returning.
